Our purpose is to provide mental health assessment for immigrants in need by documenting their trauma histories, emotional and cognitive impact, fear of return, and other mental health factors important to their legal petitions. We also document the broader emotional impact of immigration policy and practice, and we offer public education regarding humanitarian migration.

H.O.M.E. collaborates with immigration attorneys to provide expert psychological evaluations for asylum seekers. We’ve seen time and again how trauma can interfere with an individual’s ability to articulate their experiences, and this often impacts their testimony. By offering the support of licensed clinicians to document this trauma, we’re ensuring that asylum seekers are viewed with a compassionate, informed lens.

Nationwide, the grant rates for asylum hover around 30%. When an asylum seeker has an attorney, their odds of being granted asylum go up to 60%. And for those who have both an attorney and a health care professional working with them, the chance of being granted asylum is 89%. For H.O.M.E., our asylum cases have a grant rate of over 95%.
