At H.O.M.E., our goal is to ensure the voices of traumatized migrants – including children and families - are heard and understood. We do this by listening to and documenting their accounts of human rights abuses, by serving as expert witnesses for their asylum petitions, and by advocating for policies that will preserve their emotional health. Far too often, asylum seekers who survive life threatening events in their home countries are then faced with new trauma inflicted by U.S. immigration practices. H.O.M.E. works to ensure our clients and their families are granted the right to remain in a safe, stable environment in which they can heal. And based on what we learn from them, we educate U.S. officials about the psychological impact of immigration policies.
